Taurus Full Moon Lunar Eclipse Ritual Guide
This earthy Blood Moon is here to anchor and ground you during the astrologically intense time of this Scorpio season. The Full Moon is in Taurus, a sign ruled by Venus the planet of love and beauty adding to this sexy Scorpio vibe, bringing with it a burst of sensual energy. Use this day to indulge in what you love best and honour yourself perhaps with a relaxing candlelit bath, a decadent massage, or even splash out and buy yourself something beautiful.
Lunar eclipses occur during a Full Moon and Solar eclipses happen during a New Moon. Tonight’s Taurus Full Moon will bring a total Lunar eclipse which occurs when the Earth gets in between the Sun and the Moon. This placement casts a shadow on the Moon and allows us to embrace our own shadows. Eclipses are a time of change and a chance to go within. See this moment as a cosmic kick up the arse if you will, this is a chance to stop procrastinating, reevaluate everything in your life and decide what to throw away into the cosmic vortex. Just as the trees have shed their leaves in time for winter, drop what you don’t need and keep what you do. Be like nature and remember that the end is always the beginning- it’s important to go with the flow and not to resist the change.
To harness this powerful Moon take a look at our ritual guide below…
Decadent Bath
Take some time just for yourself, Taurus is all about pleasure and comfort so spend some time pampering yourself. Run a decadent bath and light candles, burn incense or add your favourite oils. Take your time in the bath, notice the water on your skin and truly relax, allowing any thoughts to wash away as you clear your mind ready for ritual.
Brew a Mulled Apple and Chamomile Tea
Food forager and writer Clare Knivett has created the perfect winter tea for this Full Moon, including ingredients of Apples - symbolising wisdom, love, immortality, earthly beauty and desire - perfect for a sensual Taurus moon. Chamomile for new beginnings - great for letting go as you move past this eclipse season. As well as Cinnamon for blessings, Nutmeg for prosperity, and Ginger for courage and power.
You will need:
Serves 2
250ml apple juice
1 cinnamon stick
1 Chamomile tea bag
2 slices of ginger
1 clove
2-3 grams of nutmeg
Place all the ingredients into a small pan over medium heat. Bring to the boil and allow to simmer for 10-15 mins until reduced slightly, take off the heat and allow to cool. Strain the tea through a sieve then share between 2 cups, top up with freshly boiled water and serve.
As you brew this tea, set your intention for what you want to move forward with after this eclipse season and consider everything you have been grateful for these last few months, including any challenges you have moved past. Full Moon is always considered to be a time to reflect and be grateful so make the brewing of this drink part of your ritual practice. These positive intentions will be the final ingredient of the tea you drink.
Before drinking, stir three times anticlockwise to let go of what no longer serves you and say the incantation:
I let go of what no longer serves me, I’m ready to embrace the change for I am powerful, strong and courageous, I deserve my life to be the way I want it to be.
Reflective Free Writing
Freewriting is a great practice for gaining clarity. To close this ritual, spend some time writing down all that comes to mind. Consider what you want to get out of your mind and leave behind as well as what plans you want to take forward into this winter season?
Write for as long as you wish, nothing is right or wrong.
If you need some prompts to get you started, here are some journal prompts for a Taurus Lunar eclipse to help you on your way...
Where in my life do I need to take more care of myself?
What are the things that I value most?
Where in my life do I need to shed things that are not aligning with my values?
What do I most want in my life?
What is blocking me? Where in my life am I staying in my comfort zone?
Am I procrastinating with anything? What one thing can I do to change that?
When you are finished with your writing feel free to tear up the words or burn them safely under the Full Moonlight… or alternatively come back to your thoughts during the Sagittarius New Moon on the 23rd November 2022 to see how you have already shifted and grown.
